Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 3/4 cup yellow moong dal
  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp salt

How to cook it

  1. Rinse the rice and moong dal together until the water runs clear.
  2. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and let the cumin seeds and ginger sizzle for a few seconds.
  3. Add the rice, dal, turmeric, salt, and water and stir well.
  4. Close the lid and cook for 4 whistles, then let the pressure release naturally.
  5. Stir in a spoon of ghee, loosen with a little hot water if needed, and serve warm.
