Privacy Policy
Dinejot helps families decide what to cook. We keep the data we collect small and we use it only to run the app for you. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Sign in email. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address so we can keep your household connected to your account. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
- Household details you enter. Your household name, the profile names you add for family members, and the food preferences, diets, allergens, and health needs you set for each member.
- Meal activity. The plans Dinejot builds for you, the votes members cast, and the record of what your household has cooked.
- Push token. If you turn on notifications, we store a device push token so we can send the meal reminders and vote reminders you set. Turn notifications off and we stop.
- Approximate location (optional). Only if you turn it on, we store a coarse location for your household: your coordinates rounded on our servers to about a one kilometer area, plus the name of your city, region, and country. You can leave this off, and you can remove it later in Settings. We never store your exact position.
- Purchase state. Whether your subscription is active. Payments are processed by the App Store or Google Play, and RevenueCat manages the subscription state for us. Your card details go to Apple or Google. No card data ever touches our servers.
- Product analytics. Simple in app events, such as opening a plan or casting a vote, so we can see which features help families and fix the ones that do not.
- Feedback you send. If you send feedback or request a feature, we store your message, along with the dish and star rating when you attach them, so we can make Dinejot better. It is deleted with your account.
How we use your information
We use this information to build safe meal plans, keep your household in sync, send the notifications you asked for, honor your subscription, and improve the app. That is the whole list.
Signing in on the web
You can also sign in to Dinejot on the web with your Google account, to see your household and plan in a browser. When you do, Google sends us your account's name and email address so we can match you to the same account you use in the app. We do not receive your Google password. To keep you signed in, we set one session cookie in your browser. That cookie is strictly for your sign-in session. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
How recipe suggestions are generated
Dinejot uses Google Gemini for two things: drafting recipes for the staple dishes you add, and writing the short daily note that appears on a planned meal. In both cases we send only dish facts, such as the dish name, cuisine, and meal type. Personal member data is never sent to any AI service. Your family's names, allergens, health needs, and votes stay with us and are used only to filter and plan.
Your approximate location
Sharing your location is optional and always your choice. When you turn it on, Dinejot keeps a coarse location for your household: the coordinates your device provides, rounded on our servers to about a one kilometer area, together with the name of your city, region, and country. We use this to understand where families cook and to make our regional content better. We never share or sell it, and it is never used to advertise to you or to track you. You can remove your location whenever you like by clearing it in Settings, and it is deleted when your household is deleted, which happens once the last member has left. The app never exposes your exact coordinates.
Meal reminders
A household manager sets the reminder times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the household settings. When a reminder time arrives, Dinejot sends a gentle push that names the dish planned for that meal. These reminders only reach your phone if you have turned notifications on, and any member can turn notifications off on their own device whenever they like.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold through the App Store and Google Play and processed by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status so we can unlock the app. We never see or store your payment card.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not sell your data, and we never share it for anyone else's advertising.
- We do not embed third party trackers or advertising software in the app.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, in your household settings. Deletion removes your identity and your seat in the household. If you would rather we do it for you, email us and we will remove your account. When the last member of a household leaves, that household and its meal data are deleted with it.
Children
Dinejot is a tool for the adults who plan a household's meals. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Where you are
Dinejot is built for families in the United States and India. Wherever you cook, your data is handled in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you consent to that handling.
A note on health
Dinejot's diet and health features help you steer plans toward the foods you want to eat more of. They are not medical advice. Please talk with your doctor about your family's health needs.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and move the effective date. For meaningful changes, we will let you know in the app.
