Chicken Teriyaki Donburi
Chicken Teriyaki Donburi is Japanese home cooking, eaten at lunch and dinner. On the plate it is the dish at the centre. Below is what usually sits beside it, what it does and does not contain, and what else to cook once you have made it.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 scallions
- 5 cups cooked white rice
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
How to cook it
- Whisk the soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, and cornstarch for the teriyaki sauce.
- Heat the neutral oil in a skillet and cook the chicken until browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes, then slice.
- Steam the broccoli until crisp-tender, about 4 minutes.
- Pour the sauce into the skillet and simmer until glossy, about 2 minutes, then return the chicken to coat.
- Divide the rice among bowls and top with the chicken and broccoli.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and scallions and serve.
