Beef Bibimbap
Beef Bibimbap is Korean home cooking, eaten at dinner. On the plate it is the dish at the centre. Below is what usually sits beside it, what it does and does not contain, and what else to cook once you have made it.
Ingredients
- 2 cups short-grain rice
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 large eggs
- 4 cups spinach
- 2 carrots
- 2 cups bean sprouts
- 1 zucchini
- 8 oz mushrooms
- 3 tbsp gochujang
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 4 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
How to cook it
- Cook the rice and keep it warm.
- Marinate the beef in 2 tbsp soy sauce, half the garlic, and the brown sugar, then brown it in a skillet, about 6 minutes.
- Separately saute the spinach, carrots, bean sprouts, zucchini, and mushrooms, seasoning each with a little sesame oil, garlic, and salt.
- Fry the eggs sunny-side up.
- Divide the rice among four bowls and arrange the beef and vegetables in sections on top.
- Add a fried egg and a spoonful of gochujang to each, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and mix before eating.

When to cook it
Beef Bibimbap takes about 50 minutes from a cold stove to the table, and the cooking itself is a proper project. It is eaten at dinner. Nothing in the calendar rules it out, so it is a year round dish.
