Paneer Bhurji Wrap

Paneer Bhurji Wrap is North Indian home cooking, eaten at lunch and dinner. On the plate it is the dish at the centre. Below is what usually sits beside it, what it does and does not contain, and what else to cook once you have made it.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz paneer
  • 4 whole wheat rotis
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tomato
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 3/4 tsp salt

How to cook it

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and let the cumin seeds sizzle, then cook the onion, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies until soft.
  2. Stir in the bell pepper and tomato with the turmeric, red chili powder, and garam masala and cook until the tomato softens.
  3. Add the crumbled paneer and salt and toss gently until heated through, about 3 minutes, then fold in the cilantro.
  4. Warm the rotis on a griddle, spoon the paneer bhurji down the center of each, and roll them into wraps.
  5. Cut in half and serve warm.

When to cook it

Paneer Bhurji Wrap takes about 30 minutes from a cold stove to the table, and the cooking itself is a fair bit of work. It is eaten at lunch and dinner. Nothing in the calendar rules it out, so it is a year round dish.
