Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 cup green peas
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 3/4 tsp salt

How to cook it

  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium and let the cumin seeds sizzle, then add the onion, ginger, and green chili and cook until soft.
  2. Stir in the carrot, peas, tomato, turmeric, and salt and cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Add the oats and toast them for a minute, then pour in the water.
  4. Simmer, stirring, until the oats are soft and creamy, about 5 minutes.
  5. Finish with the cilantro and serve warm.
