Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups thin poha (flattened rice)
  • 2 cups plain curd (dahi)
  • 3 tbsp, grated jaggery
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 2 tbsp roasted peanuts

How to cook it

  1. Rinse the thin poha briefly in a sieve under running water, then drain it well and let it sit for a few minutes to soften.
  2. Whisk the curd in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Divide the softened poha among serving bowls and spoon the curd generously over each portion.
  4. Sprinkle the grated jaggery over the top and add the sliced banana and roasted peanuts.
  5. Serve right away while the poha is still soft, mixing everything together just before eating.

Serve it with

A East Indian breakfast is a plate rather than a single dish. These are the courses that normally sit beside Chuda Dahi (Flattened Rice with Curd), read from the same composition Dinejot builds a real meal from.

A course labelled with another kitchen's name comes from a cuisine in the same family, which is where this plate usually borrows it from.

Safe at your table

Dinejot tracks ten allergens and tags every one of them by hand, so the absences below are as deliberate as the presences. Chuda Dahi (Flattened Rice with Curd) carries peanuts and dairy. It is free of the remaining 8 allergens on that list.
