Turkey Avocado Club

Turkey Avocado Club is American home cooking, eaten at lunch. On the plate it is the dish at the centre. Below is what usually sits beside it, what it does and does not contain, and what else to cook once you have made it.

15 min Easy

Ingredients

  • 12 slices sourdough bread
  • 12 oz sliced deli turkey
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 4 cheddar slices
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

How to cook it

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, then drain on paper towels.
  2. Toast the sourdough slices until golden.
  3. Spread mayonnaise on the toast and mash the avocado onto a third of the slices, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer the turkey, cheddar, bacon, tomato, and lettuce across the slices, stacking them into triple-decker clubs.
  5. Secure each sandwich with picks, cut into quarters, and serve.

Serve it with

A American lunch is a plate rather than a single dish. These are the courses that normally sit beside Turkey Avocado Club, read from the same composition Dinejot builds a real meal from.

Safe at your table

Dinejot tracks ten allergens and tags every one of them by hand, so the absences below are as deliberate as the presences. Turkey Avocado Club carries dairy, gluten, and eggs. It is free of the remaining 7 allergens on that list.

When to cook it

Turkey Avocado Club takes about 15 minutes from a cold stove to the table, and the cooking itself is easy going. It is eaten at lunch. Nothing in the calendar rules it out, so it is a year round dish.
